Equipment

  • Equipment Needed
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger (or measuring tool)
  • Strainer
  • Martini glass
  • Muddler (if making fresh fig puree)

Ingredients

  • Ingredients
  • 2 oz vodka or gin for a classic twist
  • 1 oz fig puree fresh or store-bought
  • 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup adjust based on sweetness preference
  • Ice
  • Fresh figs or lemon twist for garnish

Instructions

  • Method
  • Make the Fig Puree:
  • If using fresh figs, remove the stems and chop them into small pieces. Use a muddler to crush them in a bowl, or blend them in a food processor until smooth. Strain the mixture through a fine sieve to remove any solids, collecting the juice.
  • Mix the Ingredients:
  • In a cocktail shaker, combine the vodka (or gin), fig puree, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup. If you prefer a sweeter drink, you can add more simple syrup to taste.
  • Add Ice:
  • Fill the shaker with ice to the top. This helps chill the drink and blend the flavors together.
  • Shake:
  • Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds to ensure all ingredients are well mixed and chilled.
  • Strain and Serve:
  • Using a strainer, pour the mixture into a chilled martini glass.
  • Garnish:
  • Add a slice of fresh fig or a twist of lemon peel for garnish.
  • Variations
  • Herbal Fig Martini: Add a splash of fresh basil or rosemary for an herbal note.
  • Spiced Fig Martini: Mix in a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for a warm spice twist.
  • Non-Alcoholic Version: Replace the vodka with soda water or tonic water for a refreshing mocktail.
