Fig Martini
- Ingredients
- 2 oz vodka or gin for a classic twist
- 1 oz fig puree fresh or store-bought
- 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice
- 0.5 oz simple syrup adjust based on sweetness preference
- Ice
- Fresh figs or lemon twist for garnish
Method
Make the Fig Puree:
If using fresh figs, remove the stems and chop them into small pieces. Use a muddler to crush them in a bowl, or blend them in a food processor until smooth. Strain the mixture through a fine sieve to remove any solids, collecting the juice.
Mix the Ingredients:
In a cocktail shaker, combine the vodka (or gin), fig puree, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup. If you prefer a sweeter drink, you can add more simple syrup to taste.
Add Ice:
Fill the shaker with ice to the top. This helps chill the drink and blend the flavors together.
Shake:
Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds to ensure all ingredients are well mixed and chilled.
Strain and Serve:
Using a strainer, pour the mixture into a chilled martini glass.
Garnish:
Add a slice of fresh fig or a twist of lemon peel for garnish.
Variations
Herbal Fig Martini: Add a splash of fresh basil or rosemary for an herbal note.
Spiced Fig Martini: Mix in a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for a warm spice twist.
Non-Alcoholic Version: Replace the vodka with soda water or tonic water for a refreshing mocktail.
