Spicy Passionfruit Margarita
Equipment
- Equipment Needed: Cocktail shaker, jigger, muddler, strainer, glassware
Ingredients
- Ingredients
- For the Margarita:
- 4 oz fresh passionfruit juice about 4–6 passionfruits
- 2 oz tequila preferably silver or reposado
- 1 oz lime juice freshly squeezed
- 1 oz agave syrup or honey
- 1 small jalapeño sliced, adjust for heat preference
- Ice cubes
- For the Garnish:
- Lime wedges
- Slices of fresh jalapeño
- Coarse salt or Tajín seasoning optional
Instructions
- Method
- Prepare the Passionfruit:
- Cut the passionfruits in half and scoop out the flesh into a bowl. If you prefer a smoother drink, strain the juice to remove seeds, but leaving some seeds can add texture and visual appeal.
- Muddle the Jalapeño:
- In your cocktail shaker, add the sliced jalapeño. Use a muddler to gently press down on the jalapeño slices to release their flavor. Adjust the amount based on your spice tolerance; start with one slice and add more if desired.
- Mix the Ingredients:
- Add the passionfruit juice, tequila, lime juice, and agave syrup to the shaker.
- Shake It Up:
- Fill the shaker with ice cubes and secure the lid. Shake vigorously for about 15–20 seconds until the mixture is well chilled.
- Serve:
- Strain the mixture into two glasses filled with ice. For an extra touch, rim the glasses with lime juice and dip them in coarse salt or Tajín seasoning.
- Garnish:
- Garnish with lime wedges and additional jalapeño slices if desired.
- Variations
- Fruity Twist: Add muddled mango or pineapple for a tropical flair.
- Non-Alcoholic Version: Replace tequila with sparkling water or club soda for a refreshing mocktail.
- Herbal Infusion: Muddle fresh cilantro or mint along with the jalapeño for an aromatic touch.
